Afonso Silva wears “yellow” in Anadia

Afonso Silva won today the first stage of the 45th edition of the Abimota Grand Prix, in cycling, on a great day for AP Hotels & Resorts-Tavira-SC, with the young Portuguese crossing the finish line hand in hand with his colleague Jesús David Peña. The 185.8-kilometre “stretch” between Proença-a-Nova and Anadia was marked by several demanding climbs, which allowed escapes and split the peloton. The main highlight was the duo from the Algarve team, who crossed the finish line together after 4h34m26s. Tiago Antunes (Efapel Cycling) finished 25 seconds behind, together with Hugo Nunes (Credibom-LA Alumínios-Marcos Car), and completed the podium of this first stage.
The second and penultimate stage of the Abimota Grand Prix takes place today, in a 156-kilometre journey, starting at 12 noon and arriving at 3.50 pm in Vouzela, and marked by three third-category mountain passes.
